Abstract

The author develops a biographical and bibliographic analysis of eight members of the Ramírez family from the town of Izcuandé, Esmeraldas province, a border area of Ecuador where intense migratory movements have taken place. For the author, emphasizing the cultural and social contributions that these local figures have had allows us to dispute the story of migration understood as a crisis and, on the contrary, to posit the idea that the population movements that gave rise, among others, to the Ramírez family, is a source of social and cultural enrichment. Coming from Colombia, the Ramírez family have made significant contributions both to literature and art and to the implementation and strengthening of the educational structure of the area, whose relevance transcends the locality.
