Abstract

In recent years, the Otavalo Institute of Anthropology has focused its activities on two main lines of research: the first, known as the study of urban imaginaries, documents living culture through its protagonists, primarily older adults; this work is reflected in Testimonio, a locally circulated newspaper. The second, devoted to the methodical and systematic analysis of data, is expressed through Revista Sarance. In this commemorative year of its trajectory, the Regional Research Center of the Northern Sierra of Ecuador, after having promoted the creation of the University of Otavalo and maintained its academic function, reaffirms its commitment to addressing the various questions posed by contemporary scientific work. This commitment is further strengthened by the task of transmitting knowledge in the classroom, particularly when aiming to renew the environment and inspire active participation among all social actors.
