Abstract

The Otavalo Institute of Anthropology celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary, an occasion that invites reflection on the Institute’s contribution to the development of social sciences in the country. Undoubtedly, in its early years, it was necessary to chart the path for future actions, define the theoretical guidelines that would support its work, and build the framework that would nurture the dreams of the young people who, around its founder —Plutarco Cisneros Andrade—, carried forward the mission of establishing this institution.
