Abstract

Despite the economic crisis and the lack of understanding from certain sectors of the population, the IOA, as a Regional Research Center, continues to carry out a quiet, consistent, and fruitful study of the many issues affecting the Ecuadorian people. Distinguished anthropologists and researchers, both national and foreign, have joined this endeavor, seeking to connect past realities with the present in pursuit of a more humane coexistence.

The IOA is not an institution directly responsible for community development, yet the results of its research can and should be utilized by individuals and institutions in charge of public decision-making.
