Abstract

Proper wastewater treatment faces significant challenges related to the implementation of appropriate techniques and the construction of biodigester ponds with aquatic plants. This article explores the use of alternative technologies, such as biodigester ponds and biofilters, for biological wastewater treatment in Ecuador. It highlights the importance of these techniques due to their low cost, reduced need for advanced technology and electrical energy. The efficiency of emerging aquatic plants in water purification is analyzed, proposing sustainable solutions that can be applied to rural communities and small industries
