Man and his adaptive relationships in Rainforests: Use of the Andean Páramo and the Amazon rainforest Diva-Ecuador

Abstract

This article explores human adaptive relationships in the rainforests of the Andes and the Amazon, focusing on how indigenous communities, through their worldview and cultural practices, use and conserve biodiversity. Based on the study of the Oyacachi and Canelos communes and the Shuar Mutints Center, the article examines how these communities manage natural resources from the Andean moorlands to the Amazon rainforest. It concludes that, in order to preserve biological and cultural diversity, it is essential to integrate indigenous knowledge and strategies into conservation policies, considering the spirituality and unique environmental perception of these communities.
