Abstract

This article explores the intersection of culture, tradition, and everyday life in Otavalo, Ecuador. Through close observation, it analyses how daily practices, from craft production to participation in festivities, reflect a dynamic adaptation to historical and social changes. The study highlights the persistence of indigenous cultural elements, despite colonial impact and increasing urbanization. The roles of the community, especially of women, are examined, and how tradition and trade shape local cultural identity is reflected upon. The research also considers the role of the Otavalo market as a center of cultural and economic exchange.
