Abstract

The article explores the emerging field of Ethnoliterature, a discipline that delves into the intersection between orality and writing to unravel the cultural memory of peoples. Ethnoliterature seeks to recover and analyze the texts, myths, songs, rites, and dances that, despite the erosion of time and the elements, have woven a persistent narrative about the identity and history of communities. Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates linguistics, anthropology, and literary studies, the article examines how oral and written forms reveal and preserve the worldview of peoples. It highlights the importance of understanding literature not only as a written record, but as a dynamic manifestation of culture that evolves through social and ritual interaction. Ultimately, Ethnoliterature offers a valuable perspective for understanding cultural identity and historical continuity in the American context.
