Abstract

This article examines Yuk Hui’s concept of cosmotechnics to the dominant framework of technoscience, exploring alternative narratives of technological development. We investigate discursive and methodological approaches that challenge the prevailing narrative of synchronous and universal technoscientific progress. Our primary objective is to present alternatives to ecological collapse that diverge from decelerationism and transhumanist paradigms. The conventional narrative of Western technoscience encompassing pre-modernity, modernity, postmodernity, and culminating in apocalypse-- is critically analyzed, with particular emphasis on the latter stage. In Fragmenting the Future essays, Hui criticizes Western philosophical perspectives on technology, porposing a reevaluation to underscore their particularities and dismantle their claim to universality.
