About the Journal

REVISTA SARANCE

Revista Sarance was born in 1975 as a scientific dissemination medium created by the Instituto Otavaleño de Antropología (IOA). Since its creation, Sarance has sought to be a space for critical and interdisciplinary dialogue around classic and contemporary debates in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In its beginnings, its objective was to publicize the results of research carried out by the Institute; currently, in addition to continuing with the dissemination of work developed by the IOA, it also welcomes national and international authors whose research contributes to a better understanding of our social reality, offers relevant information for the academic community, updates theoretical and conceptual debates in Social Sciences, and provides tools for the transformation of cultural realities.

Revista Sarance specializes in works of Anthropology, Archaeology, Musicologies —Ethnomusicology, sound studies, historical musicology—, History, Sociology, Philosophy, Art Studies and Art History, Gender Studies, Political Sciences, Decolonial Studies and other topics related to Social Sciences and Humanities.

Currently, Revista Sarance has a biannual periodicity. Since 2019, we have ensured that one of the numbers published annually in Sarance corresponds to a thematic Dossier. In these specialized issues, high-impact concepts for Human Sciences are addressed, and they welcome debates, theories, and deep reflections on essential problems for understanding our contemporaneity.

Periodicity

Currently, Sarance has a biannual periodicity —June-November; December-May—. Since 2019, it was established that the first issue of each year corresponds to a thematic dossier, launched in June; and the second, to an open issue, which is published in December.

Processing and submission costs

Revista Sarance is an open access publication funded by the Instituto Otavaleño de Antropología. Consequently, no Article Processing Charges (APC) are applied. All stages of the editorial process are free and do not involve any cost for authors.
