Abstract

This article explores the use of ayahuasca as a means of deep knowledge within indigenous traditions of the Amazon. Based on a personal experience during a ritual session, it examines how the ingestion of ayahuasca facilitates an altered state of consciousness that reveals ancestral knowledge, visionary forms of perception, and an expanded understanding of the natural and spiritual environment. It analyzes the aesthetic and cognitive transformation that arises from contact with this "knowledge" and how this knowledge is integrated into the symbology and artistic practices of indigenous cultures.
