Abstract

The presentation of the Dictionary of Americanisms highlights the collaboration of the Ecuadorian Academy of Language in the creation of this monumental work, which reflects the rich linguistic diversity of the Hispanic American world. Through a process of approximately seven years, under the direction of Mr. Humberto López Morales and the Association of Language Academies, the dictionary includes 60,000 terms and 200,000 meanings, documenting Spanish in its multiple regional variants. Inspired by the idea of univocity and the illusion of totality, the dictionary stands as a testimony of academic cooperation and a cultural bridge between Spain and America. This work represents an important advance in the recording and preservation of the Hispanic American lexicon, and symbolizes the unity and richness of the shared language.
