Abstract

This article examines the complex articulation of Andean and urban spaces in contemporary social reality, recognizing their interdependence and constant dialectical renewal. The terminology used to describe these spaces often lacks precision, which hinders the development of a coherent theory of Andean development. We propose a more precise and robust conceptualization, taking into account the contributions of ecologists and overcoming the limitations of previous structuralist approaches. We analyze how spatial organization in indigenous Andean societies reflects distinctive ecological and social management, and how this conceptualization can illuminate the inherent plurality of these societies. Through this approach, we seek to offer a more complete and nuanced perspective that contributes significantly to Andean development theory, highlighting the importance of terminological and conceptual precision in researching Andean social reality.
