Rotten communities: s’o and interdependent relationships

Abstract

What is there in the code of the pestilence of ñahñuh (Otomi) myths, as historical and vital documents in transformation, that resonate in the search for other community pacts? Attending to processes of decomposition is a way of being —or approaching— the living community. An act that is far from harmonious: it is uncomfortable and manifests conflict, because it is constituted from the vital friction with death. In this sense, community is not born not from agreement but from mutual exposure to what rots, to what hurts, to what affects: to vulnerability. The intention and focus of this text are guided by the notion of rotting from the ñahñuh symbolism and the nosotropic notion as part of an epistemology in a Tojolabal key (Mayan communities).
