Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present some field observations, at the same time as to propose elementary working hypotheses aimed at establishing the degree of linguistic relationships and kinship between the Quechua-speaking population of Ecuador and the ethnolinguistic group called Inga settled in an extensive area of the Municipality of Putumayo in the south-east of Colombia.
Both the general observations and the elaboration of the hypotheses were obtained from the observation and direct and participant interview in the field, with the informants.
In the mestizo-indigenous town called Santiago de Putumayo, the first contact was established in the Quechua language with the representatives of this ethnic group called Ingas.
